Admission
Admission to Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai is contingent upon meeting the academic standards and English language proficiency requirements which may vary according to the curriculum. All applicants are considered on an individual basis and with reference to grade averages and to curriculum-specific and standardised placement examinations.
Undergraduate Admission Requirements
The following academic performance criteria apply depending on the high school curriculum:
Academic Performance
- American curriculum/SABIS: 70% overall average. In American curricula, SAT-1 Math score of 450 is required for UAE Equivalency.
- British curriculum (IGCSE/A-Levels): 5 IGCSEs at grade C or above and 2 AS-Levels or 1 A-Level at grade D or above.
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Minimum of 24 points.
- India & Pakistan National Board: Overall average of 60% to 65%
- UAE Ministry of Education: 70% for elite/applied programs and 75% for general/applied programs
- Stream Requirements: For engineering and computing, advanced Mathematics and two core sciences (Physics, plus either Chemistry or Biology) at sixth form or equivalent with minimum grades of 61% to 80% depending on the examined system.
- Placements tests: In order to determine readiness for the college-level Mathematics and Physics courses, all admitted students majoring in Engineering and Computing must pass the university’s Math and Physics placement examinations prior to registering for classes.
Graduate Admission Requirements
Prospective postgraduate students applying to Master of Science programs must provide the following:
- Academic qualifications: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required with a 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA average (B). In some cases, lower than 3.0 GPA is considered for conditional admission.
- Discipline: Engineering field of study is preferred for MS candidates who graduate from different specialisations outside of engineering.
- Application package: Curriculum Vitae or resume, 500-word statement of purpose and two recommendation letters.
English Proficiency Benchmarks (All Students)
Full, unconditioned entry requires standardised proofs of English fluency. If scores fall slightly short, conditional admission routes are extended through the on-campus English Language Center:

- Dual Degrees: Students graduate with two degrees; one from RIT New York, while another is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in the United Arab Emirates.
- Undergraduate Degrees: Students can enroll in a wide range of Bachelor of Science programs. Some of the areas covered include, but are not limited to, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computing Security, Cyber-security, Business Administration, and Marketing.
