Neetu Singh Ma’am is an Indian educator, author, and businesswoman. She is one of India’s most renowned English language instructors for competitive exams and government jobs. Neetu Singh is also referred to as the Iron lady for her powerful personality and determination, as well as her ability to inspire students. Singh was born in Giridih district in Jharkhand. Singh’s father, a postman, passed away when she was just three years old, leaving the family in despair. Singh’s mother and elder brother made every effort to ensure she received a decent education. She studied in several convent schools and graduated from Delhi University in the field of Law. However, instead of pursuing her career as an advocate, she chose to coach and teach English. Singh became well-known for her innovative ideas about the English language, as well as her captivating and energetic personality, which earned her the nickname “Iron Lady.”
She established KD Campus, one of Delhi’s most well-known coaching institutes for government job preparations, in 2015. The institution has earned a fantastic reputation among students for her innovative strategy to English preparations. Early Life & Education
Humble Beginnings
She was born in a small village of Giridih which is currently a part of Jharkhand but back then it was Bihar. She was the seventh daughter in a large family, and life was never easy for them since they did not have much resources. She was lucky enough to experience the village life as a little child and enjoyed the time spent playing around barefoot in fields, listening to the village elders’ stories and eating what little food they got in exchange for hard work.
When her father died when she was only three years old it already felt like the end of the road. Her mother was left alone with seven children to feed and there was almost nothing she could do about it. She had to take up any kind of job available to earn at least some money for her children to survive. It was a hard path to walk on, and there were many times when the little food had to be shared between several kids, and when school fees were withheld simply because there was no one to pay them. Still, her mother managed to pull through sheer force of her own will and determination.
The children saw their mother’s example and grew strong in spirit as well, learning an important lesson about perseverance and resilience. They grew up seeing her getting up early in the morning and going to bed late at night, all that without ever complaining. These were the things that taught them that they had to go to school and learn so that they could one day make a living and support their family. The little girl, in particular, studied diligently and helped out where she could. She grew up strong and patient, and the hardships of life never broke her spirit. The dusty streets of Giridih and the small village house were her habitat and she never dreamed bigger than to one day leave it. All the struggles she faced made her grow in character, making her ready to face the world and provide a better future for her family.
Academic Journey
Her mother always believed that a good education was the best gift she could give her daughter. She ensured that the child got the best possible opportunities to obtain a proper education. First, she sent her to a convent school in Giridih. The school was very disciplined, and she got the best possible education. The teachers there helped her develop a good understanding of various topics. She got taught to read, write, and develop her cognitive abilities. Moreover, the teachers also helped her develop good mannerisms. She got an overall good education in the convent school.
After her initial studies, her mother sent her to varanasi for higher studies. There, her mother chose St. John’s Boarding school, which was known for providing quality education to its students. In this school, she got exposed to more complex topics. She also developed friendships with her classmates. The teachers there also motivated her to study hard. This education in varanasi opened her worldly perspectives. It was also in varanasi that she got accustomed to a new form of lifestyle.
Lastly, her mother sent her to Vinoba Bhave University for her higher studies. Thus, her journey of education began anew. At the university, she gained more knowledge while also developing character. Moreover, the university gave her a lot of exposure. It can be said that her mother played a big role in her life by making all these arrangements for her education. All these little efforts of her mother came out to be really important later in her life. Thus, the journey of education she embarked upon was the best thing that could have happened to her. Her mother was very particular about her future, and the planning paid off. The girl got exposed to new things at every level of her education, starting from the convent school to St. John’s School and Vinoba Bhave University. The education system she got access to through the planning done by her mother opened a lot of doors for her.
The Delhi Move
To take her ambitions to the next level, she went to Delhi, where she started her journey from scratch by giving home tuitions and conducting spoken English classes. Moving to Delhi was not easy for her as she left her serene environment of her hometown for the chaotic environment of Delhi. She had nothing except the strive in her heart to achieve something big for herself.
She used to wake up very early in the morning, carry her books and notes in her hand and start her journey from door to door teaching her students. She would sit cross-legged on the floor or on small wooden stools and explain basic concepts in simple words to children and adults who were preparing for various government examinations. The batches used to be very small and sometimes, the distance between her students’ homes used to be too far, but she never complained. It did not matter whether it was sunny or monsoon, she would come and go everyday with a smile on her face and a bag full of books.
The spoken English classes were a treat for her where she would interact with people who would gather in small groups in their respective locality. They would sit together, discuss daily dialogues, learn new words and their pronunciations. Most of her students were very shy at first but she would encourage them and try to motivate them so that they could improve their confidence levels and could deliver good performances in their examinations.
Whatever little earnings she used to make helped her to support herself, but money was never a big motivation for her. The smile on her mother’s face and the satisfaction that she used to feel teaching her young students used to inspire her from within. Day by day she gained popularity among the locals and her hard work paid off in the form of a large number of students who were willing to learn under her wings. From her humble beginning, she laid the foundation for her future career.
