Faisal Khan better known as Khan Sir is a renowned Indian educator and YouTuber based in Patna, Bihar. He was born on 12 th December 1993 in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. Faisal comes from a humble middle-class family. His father was a contractor while his mother was a housewife. Faisal had his primary education in Bhatpar Rani and later joined the University of Allahabad where he earned a bachelor’s degree in science and a master’s degree in geography.

In 2021, he came up with a mobile application to provide his students with affordable online classes.

Early Life and Education
Faisal Khan was born in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh in a poor Muslim family. His father was a contractor while his mother was a housewife. Growing up with his parents made him learn the value of money and honesty at an early age. His school life was filled with excitement as he studied in Bhatpar Rani, a small town that witnessed the birth of his passion for academics and learning.
After completing his studies, Faisal continued with his career in the University of Allahabad. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. However, he did not stop there; instead, he pursued his master’s degree in geography. In 2025, Faisal married Ainam Siddiqui otherwise referred to as Zeenat Khan. The duo celebrated their wedding in Deoria town as Faisal’s personal life progressed well alongside his career. Career
Khan Sir started his teaching journey from Patna, Bihar with just Six students. His class size was really small back then but the way he taught made the students love his methodology. He would make even the most complex topics understandable and easy with his innovative ideas and simple tricks. As a result, news of him and his teaching methods spread like wildfire and the number of students that attended his coaching classes grew exponentially and soon enough his coaching institute became popular throughout the city.
In 2019, Khan Sir took his first big step towards making education easily accessible by opening up a YouTube channel named Khan GS Research Centre. In this channel, he would upload his lectures on various important topics such as history, geography, polity, and current affairs. His effort has been successful in making thousands of students from all across India prepare for various competitive exams from the comfort of their homes.
Khan Sir continued to make efforts towards free and better education for all and announced the launch of his Khan Sir Official App in 2021. With the help of his app, students from far-away places and remote areas could get proper education without having to travel long distances.
In June 2025 on the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha, Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, paid a visit to Khan Sir's coaching institute in Patna. The two had a long discussion on the importance of education and various social issues. They also discussed cultural and feminine issues, and the importance of stopping crimes against women.

Controversies
In April 2021, Khan uploaded a video about France and Pakistan relations. The video was criticised by a number of social media users.
An FIR was filed against several coaching teachers, including Khan, in January 2022. It was related to student protests against Railway Recruitment Board examinations.
In December 2024, Khan participated in a protest related to recent changes made in Bihar Public Service Commission examination process.

Controversy with Anjana Om Kashyap
On May 29, 2026, during a live debate about NEET exam system on Aaj Tak, TV anchor Anjana Om Kashyap spoke about the increasing influence of online 'star teachers' and commercialisation of online teachers. They were referred to as fraudulent ("do kaudi ke Star teachers")
This led to online teachers such as Khan Sir, Abhinay and others to respond to this on social media with videos, posts and broadcasts. They used defamatory words such as 'bikau patrakar,' 'chatukar,' 'dalli' and accused them of doing 'dalaali' and running a 'fake news ki dukaan' for Anjana and Aaj Tak.
Later Anjana and TV Today Network, for which Anjana works, filed a defamation suit before Delhi High Court against Faisal Khan (Khan Sir), Abhinay Sharma, Babita Tyagi, Arvind Bhadauriya and the 4PM News Network, seeking Rs. 2 crore compensation and immediate removal of defamatory material from social media.
2026 Coaching Institute Firing Case
In June 2026, Educator and YouTuber Faisal Khan (Khan Sir) became involved in a legal case after a shooting and vandalism incident outside his coaching institution, Khan Global Studies, in Patna, Bihar. The disturbance reportedly occurred on June 2 when a group caused trouble outside the establishment and shots were fired at the scene. The police opened an inquiry into the case and registered an FIR.
As the police investigated, Khan Sir was named in the case. His counsel said he would seek anticipatory bail from the court instead of surrendering to the police. On June 9, a Patna court ordered interim protection for him while allowing the police to continue their inquiry.
Khan Sir reportedly suggested that the trouble might be due to rivalry between coaching institutions, but police did not support this claim at the time. The case continued through the courts with both sides presenting their evidence to the court.
On July 13, 2026, a Patna court granted anticipatory bail to Khan Sir and two other staff members who were accused of firing in the case. Two security guards who were arrested in the case also received bail. As a result, the investigation and trial have remained an important part of the controversy of the incident.
Social Work
Khan Sir has been making efforts to make healthcare services affordable to common people. He has opened a hospital in Patna in 2025 with the motive to provide low-cost treatment to poor patients. The hospital is providing treatment at a lower price than most government hospitals with a special focus on lower-middle-class families. Moreover, diagnostic tests are also being conducted at cheap rates so that everyone can get the required medical service without spending much. By doing this, Khan Sahib is making healthcare services cheaper and more accessible to poor people.
Public Engagements
In 2025, Khan Sir conducted a grand Raksha Bandhan ceremony in Patna with thousands of students participating. It is said that on the day of the event about 15,000 women tied rakhis to Khan Sir. The special event was highlighted by extensive media coverage as well as the deep bond between the teacher and his students.
